Carbon Capture & Storage Packages

Our capabilities on CCS projects

CO₂ capture, purification, compression, liquefaction and storage packages built by Italian EPCI specialists with forty years in critical process equipment.

Carbon capture is not a new discipline for the companies building it. Separating, drying, compressing and liquefying a gas stream is what these yards have done for decades on hydrocarbon service. CCS applies the same equipment, the same welding procedures and the same approvals to CO₂.

Materials for CO₂ service

Wet CO₂ is aggressive, and the material selection is where a capture package is won or lost. Our yards qualify and weld the full range the service demands: Duplex S32205 and S31803, Super Duplex S32750, Alloy 904L, Inconel 625, Incoloy 800 and 825, Hastelloy C-22, Sanicro 28, and carbon steel with cladding.

Proven on adjacent service

We have not yet delivered a full CCS chain. What we have delivered is every one of its component technologies, on hydrocarbon and industrial gas service:

 

Molecular sieve dehydration — LPG dehydration package with regeneration and

separation for Lavan Refinery, Iran. Gas dehydration and mercury removal for IOOC,

Sirri Island.

 

Separation and purification — PSA and membrane units for Honeywell UOP: Polysep membrane systems for Marathon Oil in Texas and for Lukoil at Burgas, 10-bed and 6-bed PSA units for Pemex at Dos Bocas, 8-bed PSA for ArcelorMittal at Gent, nitrogen treatment and PSA for KNPC in Kuwait.

 

Cryogenic and liquefaction — Twelve turbo Brayton cryogenic systems for LNG service. Nitrogen generation plant with cold box and warm skids for KNPC.

 

Hydrogen and electrolysis — Twenty electrolysis modules for RWE at Lingen, Germany (2023-24). Two eCOS plants for Haldor Topsoe (2020). A 6,000 Nm³/h HTCR hydrogen production plant for YPF in Mendoza, Argentina.

 

WHAT WE BUILD

CO₂ capture unit
Separation of CO₂ from the exhaust gas of industrial or power plants. Technologies vary by application and typically include absorber and stripper units.
 
Purification and dehydration
Removal of impurities such as methane and nitrogen that would interfere with downstream compression or liquefaction. Moisture removal by molecular sieve dryers.
 
Compression plant
High-pressure compression to increase gas density and prepare the stream for transport or liquefaction.
 
Liquefaction facility
Where long-distance transport requires it, cooling under high pressure to the liquid phase, substantially reducing volume for shipping or pipeline.
 
Storage
Delivery to permanent storage sites — depleted oil and gas fields, deep saline aquifers — for long-term sequestration.
 
Package integration, commissioning and installation
On-site assembly, testing, start-up and ongoing maintenance.
